Overview
Computer Programming prepares you with current and practical skills needed to build software and launch a career in a rapidly changing industry.
Technology doesn鈥檛 stand still, and neither does our curriculum. You鈥檒l learn in hardware and software environments that reflect the tools, platforms, and practices used in the IT industry. This will give you the ability to adapt as programming evolves through advances in areas such as AI-assisted coding, cloud platforms, and modern software development practices.
Build your skills in Python, Java, JavaScript, and related technologies, and apply them to the development of standalone, web-based and database-driven applications. Through hands-on projects, you鈥檒l learn to analyze problems, design solutions and turn ideas into working software.
Bring it all together in your final semester with a capstone project. Working with a business, individual, or community partner, you鈥檒l identify a real-world problem, analyze their existing process or system, and design and develop a prototype software solution. With mentorship throughout the project, you鈥檒l gain experience taking your software project from the initial concept right through to final design and development. This is exactly the kind of hands-on experience employers love to hear about.
Complete a semester-long project where you will gain real-world experience by analyzing and improving a process or system for a business, individual, or community by developing a prototype software system. Connect with local businesses to identify areas needing improvement and then design and develop your software prototype to support the business based on identified issues.
