Dual Credit Opportunities

The Dual Credit program allows high school students to register for听 college courses while still in high school. When you take a Dual Credit, you will earn a college credit and high school credit for your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Learn about what to expect from college life after high school, and become familiar with 不良研究所 and our programs and services.听 听The Dual Credit program is a great way for you to get ahead or get back on track with your high school education, while getting a head-start on your college education.

What is a Dual Credit course?


A Ministry-approved Dual Credit course听 听听allows high school students to take college or apprenticeship courses that count towards both:

  • your high school diploma - Ontario Secondary School Diploma听 听听(OSSD)
  • a postsecondary certificate, diploma, degree or apprenticeship program
Who is eligible for Dual Credit courses?


Students in grade 11 or 12 currently working toward their OSSD.

What is the purpose of Dual Credit courses?


Dual Credit courses are designed to help students complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma听 and also give them a chance听 听to try out a course for s college or apprenticeship program before completing high school. It is a great way for students, still registered in high school, to explore education pathways and career opportunities while experiencing college life and working towards a听 听听successful transition to college.听

What does it cost?


There are no costs for secondary school students taking a Dual Credit course. Books and transportation are provided free of charge to all high school students attending regularly.

How do I register for a Dual Credit course?


To听 听听learn more about the dual credit program, including eligibility and how to register, please visit your high school Guidance/Student Services office. Entry into dual credit programming is approved by Guidance/Student Services teams at your high school.听

I took a dual credit course and loved it. 听How many am I allowed to take while in high school?


Students may earn up to four dual credits. Dual credits are recorded as 鈥渆lective credits."听 听听Students are not able to earn 鈥渃ompulsory鈥 credits through dual credit courses.听

I might require some extra support if I take a dual credit course. Are there supports available for high school students registered in dual credits/college courses?


Yes! The Dual Credit team at 不良研究所 will make sure you are set up for success in the course. 听As a Dual Credit student, you will have full access to our College supports including the Accessibility Office, Student Services, Library, Peer Tutoring, Counselling, and much more.听

I have an IEP. Is the process the same as in high school, or do I need to take any action to ensure my IEP is addressed and followed?


The process is different in college than it is in high school. It is our priority to make sure听 that听students who register and participate in the dual credit program have the right supports - we want you to be successful! If you are a student with an IEP or require additional support, you must self-identify with the 不良研究所 Accessibility Office to set up accommodations and receive support during your dual credit course.
